Help the helper program AKA How do I organise a fundraising charity event?
We have been conducting interviews in the past few months with smaller charities and organisations to find out why aren't they tapping into the possibilities offered by fundraising events. Government grants are cut dramatically so these entities are more dependent on donations from the public sector than ever.
We documented a few common challenges that seem to create a barrier for these charities.
1. I don't have the resources
This is a very common answer. Small charities do not have the resources to put towards fundraising events. Their resources are already maxed out on their main activity, they have no surplus to allocate to events.
2. I don't have the time Points one and two are going hand in hand forming the most frequently heard answers. Understandable. When you are a charity trying to focus on your main thing, you will not priorities to allocate time to do something which is not directly in linked to your benefactors' interest.
3. I feel insecure spending money on something I don't understand and I can't guarantee a fix return on investment
Very fair point. If you don't know how to, it feels riskier to take on any new task, let alone when it costs you precious Pound Sterling, Euros and Dollars.
